We are the Bruning Wildcats, fierce in our commitment to student success! Each year, we, along with parents, marvel at the exceptional growth we see in every one of our students. We attribute this to our highly qualified instructional staff, effective leadership, dedicated support personnel, and strong family and community involvement.
We are privileged to provide early childhood education to the students of Wilmington. We love our jobs and know that we have been entrusted with tremendous responsibility. Along with appropriate curriculum and academic skills development, we also focus on each child’s emotional, physical, mental, and social well-being. Bruning Elementary is the first step in our students’ learning journey, and we strive to make it a hop, skip, and a jump!
Behavior Expectations
Our students do a great job of learning how good behavior helps them and others achieve more in school. We post these reminders in our school and ask parents to reinforce them at home.

Response to Intervention
We use a Response to Intervention (RTI) framework to address student learning. With RTI, we can universally screen, monitor progress, and deliver tiered levels of instruction and interventions to ensure that each of our students is making adequate progress towards his or her learning goals. Because RTI is very systematic and data-based, it helps with early identification of learning difficulties.
